Land Information New Zealand has a whole load of high resolution aerial photographs of Auckland city (and a few other places) available for free download. The photos are colour, with a resolution of 2.5m per pixel. Sure, 198MB tiff files are a tad more cumbersome than google maps, but it’s still damn cool.
