Breaks Co-Op : The Sound Inside
6 May 2005
The Sound Inside, the second release from the Breaks Co-Op, is the perfect album to accompany a hot summer’s day at the beach. Or rather, it would be, had I bought it in the summer. With winter rolling in, this album has become my driving to work in the rain wishing it was still summer CD. Whether the beach is real or imagined, this is one hell of an album, with several stand out tracks: The Otherside, Last Night, Duet and the instrumental Beats Interlude to name a few.
The sound is a relaxed, acoustic, folk sound, with an almost jazzy aspect to many of the tracks (the last third of the CD is easily breezy and mellow enough to go straight onto your falling asleep playlist). The songs all work well together, with only Question of Freedom feeling a little out of place to me with it’s rather sudden increase in tempo.
Buy this CD if you like Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenreiter and Jeff Buckley, or if you just want to relive a few summer memories on the way to work.
