Illusion
23 June 2005
- 30ml Malibu
- 30ml Midori
- 30ml Vodka
- 15ml Cointreau
- 30ml Pineapple Juice
Shake everything together with ice and serve in shot glasses. I had to make a couple of these last night as part of our apology to a guest whose surprise party we completely ruined.
The Illusion is a lovely, luminous shade of green, thanks to the Midori being tamed by the yellow of the pineapple juice, and can look great served in a really tall highball glass with lots of ice, as you would with a Long Island Iced Tea. You may need to alter the recipe slightly by adding some pineapple juice to ensure that the drink fills the glass. I’m also tempted to try a sunrise version next time - put 10 - 15ml Grenadine Syrup in the bottom of a highball glass, fill with ice, and then strain the Illusion gently over the top. The result should be a nice gradual color gradient from deep red at the bottom, to green at the top.
