Job perks

I was reminded this week why I love my job so much. I often complain about the hours and the pay, but when the bar fills up and everyone’s having a good time, bartending really gives me a buzz. If you intend to stick it out in hospitality and eventually own your own business (and one day I hope to do just that), I think you really have to enjoy the atmosphere of throwing a party for hundreds of strangers every night. The pay might be fairly average along the way, but some of the perks do make up for it - this weekend I’ve had two free dinners and a free 6 pack of beer, which all adds up to more (much needed) cash in my pocket.
