Back to Reality
4 September 2005
After a month of camping through British Columbia, the Yukon and Alaska, I am finally back to my normal routine, or at least something resembling it. The trip was exactly what I needed: an escape from my everyday life for a while. Camping, hiking, cooking over fires, sleeping outside and some of the most beautiful scenery and wildlife in the world have made it a holiday to remember. The remoteness of some of the places we stayed meant that internet access was a rare luxury - one place charging $1 / minute for for access. I considered making some back dated posts to document the trip, but instead I think I will keep my record of this trip in my Moleskine where it belongs and let the month-long gap in blog entries serve as a quiet reminder of the trip.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. - Mark Twain
